Wellness Retreats for People Living with Cancer

This 3-day programme offers a fully inclusive hotel stay, with taster sessions of cooking demonstrations, gentle exercise, fun and chat for small groups of up to 10 people at a time. It is an opportunity to get away from everything, try new activities and have space to either relax and recharge or to socialise with people that have faced similar challenges.

The programme is based out of a luxury hotel in the Scottish Borders, and you can experience taster sessions across a range of physical, mental, creative and social activities.

During 2019, we hope to run 4 retreats between April and October, as and when we have raised enough funds.

There are no barriers to attendance or requirements for medical referral, however we will ask you to complete a medical form so that we can make sure that the activity instructors can adapt the activities to meet your needs.

Activities

A typical programme will include a selection of the following activities:

• Interactive cookery demonstration
• Walking with alpacas
• Horse riding
• Fishing
• Gentle movement exercise
• Backwoods cooking and ‘back to nature’ exploration
• Nordic walking
• Cycling
• Craft / woodworking activities
• General socialising and fun
• Informal counselling and support
• Beauty and holistic therapies

All participants will receive a goodie bag when leaving the retreat, including a set of Nordic walking poles, recipe card packs with taste bud tingling ingredients, and a tailored information pack about further support and activity groups in your area.

There will also be ready access to regular online cookery demonstrations, food preparation and nutrition talks via the website.
